ROXAS City — A newly elected village councilman was shot by unidentified suspects while inside the barangay hall in Cuartero, Capiz recently. He died.
PO2 Rommel Alvarez, in-charge of the case, identified the victim as Santo Niño Barangay Kagawad Percilo Villanueva Jr., 35, of President Roxas, Capiz.
Villanueva succumbed to several gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body.
At about 12:30 p.m. on December 8, the victim was waiting for his fellow councilmen for their session in the barangay hall, police said.
Two unidentified armed men arrived in the barangay hall, Alvarez said.
Also, about eight unidentified bonnet-wearing men were spotted at the entrance of the hall, police said.
The suspects shot Villanueva at close range and fled, the police said.
