Village councilman shot in session hall

ROXAS City — A newly elected village councilman was shot by unidentified suspects while inside the barangay hall in Cuartero, Capiz recently. He died.

PO2 Rommel Alvarez, in-charge of the case, identified the victim as Santo Niño Barangay Kagawad Percilo Villanueva Jr., 35, of President Roxas, Capiz.

Villanueva succumbed to several gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body.

At about 12:30 p.m. on December 8, the victim was waiting for his fellow councilmen for their session in the barangay hall, police said.

Two unidentified armed men arrived in the barangay hall, Alvarez said.

Also, about eight unidentified bonnet-wearing men were spotted at the entrance of the hall, police said.
The suspects shot Villanueva at close range and fled, the police said.

Police recovered empty shells — three of which were that of a .45 caliber pistol while the rest were that of a 12-gauge shotgun — from the crime scene.

The police conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspects. The motive is still undetermined./PN

 
Cop caught sleeping with 
3 women in brgy hall

ROXAS City — A police officer is in hot water after being caught sleeping with three women inside the barangay hall of Brgy. Inzo Arnaldo here.

Inzo Arnaldo Village Councilman Felizardo Demayuga caught a certain PO2 Arapan sleeping with three women at the receiving area of their barangay hall.

He reported the case to the Roxas City Police Office.

One of the women berated him when he turned the light on, Demayuga said.

The allegations of Demayuga will be investigated, according to Supt. Kashmir Disomangcop, Roxas City police chief.

Police reports said Arapan was assigned here to augment this city’s police force in line with the Sinadya sa Halaran Festival on December 3–8.

Disomangcop later learned that the three women were Arapan’s best friends.

The women sought Arapan’s help because the boyfriend of one of them was hunting them, police said.

Teacher faces child abuse charges

ROXAS City — A teacher here is currently facing 27 counts of charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 otherwise known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Twenty-seven pupils filed the case against Susana Balgos, a Home Economics teacher of Plaridel East Elementary School in Brgy. 8 here, before the Roxas City Prosecutors Office.

The pupils claimed that Balgos hit them with a wooden slipper. The students sustained hematoma on the head.

They said on October 18, Balgos demanded them to pay P25 to be used to buy tiles for the classroom floor.

Balgos told them that the amount was approved by their Principal Jocelyn delos Reyes, the pupils said.

Balgos and delos Reyes could not be reached for comment as of press time./PN
