Top officials of the Catholic Church led by Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Rev. Edward Joseph Adams, D.D., is expected to grace the celebration, Knights of Columbus District Deputy Bienvenido Cortes said.

Cortes said other guests during Gordoncillo’s 25th sacerdotal rites include Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Kidapawan Bishop Romulo dela Cruz and Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Puebles.

The celebration yesterday kicked off with a Eucharistic celebration at 10 a.m. at the Capiz Gymnasium here.

It was attended by Barangay Ecclesial Communities, parishes, schools and other catholic institutions in the province.

A tribute or “Halad” to Gordoncillo was offered at 1 p.m., Cortes said, adding that a dinner and a cultural show followed in the evening at the CAP Auditorium.

Today, the celebration will start with a Eucharistic celebration at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral while the post-prandial speeches will be done at the Capiz Gymnasium during the luncheon program.

Pay early, BIR urges taxpayers

ROXAS City — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) called on taxpayers in the province to pay properly and on time.

“It’s income tax filing season once again and our patriotic duty is being challenged and called upon once more,” said Gil Tabanda, head of the BIR Revenue District Office No. 72.

The province’s top taxman has also solicited the support of the local tri-media practitioners to help remind taxpayers of the Income Tax Returns (ITR) filing and payments in April 15.

The BIR-Capiz has set a press conference on March 16. Expected to grace the media interaction are BIR Regional Director Glen Geraldino and Tabanda, among others.

This year’s tax campaign has the theme, “Buwis Mo Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

Tabanda said it describes the resolute desire of the BIR to collect the correct amount of taxes sufficient enough to support nation building. (Alex A. Lumaque/PIA/PN
