SAPIAN, Capiz – Local government officials mostly identified with the Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC) graced the 40th wedding anniversary of Mayor Arturo Orosco and wife Dr. Evangeline Oñas-Orosco on October 16 here.

The Orosco couple renewed their wedding vows at the St. Anne Parish Church at 3 p.m. with Capiz Archbishop Onesimo Gordoncillo as the main celebrant.

Orosco earlier said almost all local officials in Capiz were invited to their wedding anniversary.
Politics has no place in the occasion, he said.

Among those present were Gov. Victor Tanco, Vice Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras, former Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, former Capiz 1st District Rep. Rodriguez Dadivas, former Roxas City Councilor Mark Ortiz and his mother Cora.

Also present were UKC-allied mayors Dante Bermejo of Panay, Katherine Belo of Panitan, Felipe Yap of Ivisan, Roger Flores of Cuartero, Leslie Warren Benjamin of Dumarao, Joselito Escutin of Dao, Rosemarie Gardose of Tapaz and Ethel Jinon of Jamindan.

Provincial Board members Jeffry Layo, James Magbanua and Mimi Ardivilla — all of the UKC — were also present.

About 40 priests led by the Most Rev. Msgr. Vicente Hilata, Roxas City Metropolitan Cathedral vicar general, served as Eucharistic celebrants.

On the other hand, the Rev. Fr. Freddie Billanes, St. Pius X Seminary rector, gave the homily.
Dr. Nilo Rosas, Dr. Oscar Bautista, Atty. Ignacio Bunye, Atty. Fernando Rafanan, Rep. Cynthia Villar, Dr. Mona Valisno, Dr. Rosalina Fuentes, and Sr. Flor Pauline Duran were the couple’s principal sponsors.

The reception was at the Herman Hall of the Orosco residence in Brgy. Poblacion here./PN
