NPA rebels attack Army-CAA patrol base in Surigao del Sur

             BUTUAN CITY (PNA) - A platoon sized NPA rebels attacked on Wednesday an Army-CAA patrol base in Barangay San Pedro, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, belated report reaching Caraga PNP regional office here.

 

            Lianga town is about 140 kilometers away from Butuan City, the region’s capital.

 

            Report from Caraga PNP regional information office said an estimated seven fully armed NPA rebels attacked the CAA patrol base that resulted to about ten minutes firefight

 

            Police and military reports claimed the New People’s Army rebels withdrew towards northeast direction and reported no casualty in the government side but reportedly according to the government troopers undetermined number of casualties on the New People’s Army side

 

            Said same report claimed PNP personnel of Lianga Municipal Police Station conducted checkpoint and monitoring in the area in cooperation with the AFP personnel of Surigao del Sur.(PNA/Ben Serrano)
