Luistro is keynote speaker for first ever Surigao del Norte Education Summit on February 15

            SURIGAO CITY (PNA) - No less than Education Secretary Armin Altamirano Luistro will be keynote speaker in the 2011 Surigao del Norte Education Summit which will be held at Surigao del Norte Provincial Convention Center, Capitol Compound this city on February 15, 2011.

            Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Folcadilla Matugas said Luistro accepted the invitation saying that apart from the  Education Summit, launching of the Provincial Culture and Arts Week will take place including unveiling rites of the Provincial Cultural Center for Children at the at the Provincial Amphitheater here by which Luistro was also invited guest speakers of both important events.

            With its theme, “Building a new Surigao through Quality Basic Education”, this year’s Education Summit will also be highlighted by MOA signing by all concerned barangay captains, Federated District PTA and Dep Ed officials, school teachers for PROJECT: BEST or (Barangay Education Strategic Team) of Surigao del Norte.

            Resolutions of support for the province’ education sector development program from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, League of Municipal Mayors of the Philippines (LMMP), Association of Barangay Captains and Parents- Teachers Association will also be presented and discussed during the summit.

            Matugas also said that the Essential Health Care Program (EHCP) for Schools by the German International Cooperation (GiZ) in cooperation with the Philippine Government will also be launch with turned over of some equipment.

The German government project beneficiaries are the four school divisions of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands provinces namely: Surigao City Schools Division, Siargao Island Schools Division, Surigao del Norte Schools Dvision and the Dinagat Islands schools division.

 According to Governor Matugas, no less than Mr. Holger Zahn, Project Manager of the GIZ (German Development Cooperation) will be attending the launching and the turn over ceremonies.

To give messages during the summit are Representatives Guillermo A. Romarate and Francisco T. Matugas Representatives of the Second and First Congressional Districts of S,urigao del Norte respectively.            

Matugas added the summit will be attended by Schools Division Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Promotional Staffs, Chiefs of Staffs, Elementary Heads, Secondary School Heads, selected Elementary and Secondary Teachers from each Districts, District Federated and Secondary PTA Presidents and Barangay Captains from the Divisions of Siargao, Surigao del Norte and Surigao City.

            During election campaign, one of Matugas’ primary election platforms of governance was to uplift the quality of education in the province under her priority development programs for the province she designed as H.E.A.L.S which stands for Health, Education and Environment, Agriculture, Livelihood and Sports.
