Father and son missing after being swept away by strong river current in Agusan Sur

            BUTUAN CITY (PNA)- A 56 year old farmer and his 8 year old son were reportedly gone missing since January 31 after being swept away by strong current of a river they were crossing in Sitio Loring, Barangay St. Cruz, Rosario, Agusan del Sur, report from Rosario Municipal Police Office to Caraga PNP regional office said.

 

            In said report relayed to media by Caraga PNP Regional Information Office almost noon today here in Butuan City claimed that Eleuteria Mica Ramos. legal age, and resident of said place went to Rosario Police Office Wednesday, complained and reported that her brother and his son 8 year old son gone missing after they were reportedly swept away by the river’s strong current.

 

            The incident took place at the height of continuous rains that hit the province, the report claimed.

 

            Police identified the missing victims as Robin Mica Ramos, 56, married, farmer and his eight year old son Richard Ramos both residents of said place

           

            Police said the two were crossing a river in said place at about 8:00 a.m. January 31.

 

         The victim’s brother Eleuteria allegedly told Rosario Police that the family  suspected the two father and son victims may have been killed due drowning but is considered missing because they have not located the missing bodies of the two as of this writing.

 

            The Caraga Police report furnished or distributed/dispatched to media claimed Personnel of Rosario MPS together with the Provincial Search and Rescue team and Rosario Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee are now conducting search and retrieval operations. 

 

            Agusan del Sur is the biggest province of Caraga region in terms of land area and was one of the provinces of the region affected by recent flooding and landslides.

 

            Rosario town is more than 100 kilometers southeast from here Butuan City, the region’s capital.(PNA/ben serrano)
