Missing Korean found dead in Siargao Island; suicide note found

            Camp Rafael Rodriguez, LIBERTAD, BUTUAN CITY (PNA) - Police in General Luna town in Siargao Island found the missing Korean national already dead Thursday afternoon, belated report from Surigao del Norte Provincial Police based in Surigao City said. 


            Surigao del Norte Provincial Police Director Senior Supt. Emmanuel Talento said search and rescue team tasked to search the missing Korean national found the foreigner already dead near Daku Island where his rented dinghy boat was found empty by the fisherman whom the missing Korean rented the boat. 


            Surigao del Norte Provincial Police Office Operations Officer Chief Inspector Rudy Elanda told this writer in a long distance interview that remains of the Korean national now lies in state at Nilo Funeral Homes in Siargao Island’s capital town of Dapa, Surigao del Norte. 


            “Found in the Korean’s remains was a suicide note written both in Korean and in English translation saying he (Korean national) wanted to vanish from this World, Elanda told this writer in a mobile phone interview.


            Elanda and Talento claimed Korean Embassy officials in Manila were already informed about recent development of the missing Korean national. 


            Caraga Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Reynaldo S. Rafal told this writer in an interview that relatives of Kim Dae Kyu already arrived in the country and are now in Cagayan de Oro City as of this writing and going to Siargao Island particularly in Dapa. 


            Last December 19, the missing Korean national identified later as Kim Dae Kyu rented a dinghy boat and allegedly went to Guyam Island in General Luna town some hundreds of kilometer away from here Butuan City and a five hour motorboat ride from coastal Surigao City.


            The Korean failed to return the following day as one of the agreement of the dinghy rental,  prompting Bernard Ticod, 30, married, fisherman and resident of Barangay General Luna, Surigao del Norte one of the owner of the dinghy boat the Korean rented to look and search for the Korean national. 


Ticod went to Guyam Island to check the foreign national, but prior to his arrival he saw an abandoned dinghy floating along Daku straight he then proceeded to the Island to look for the foreign national however, he only found the following:


One (1) wallet color black with driver’s license, one (1) hat color beige, cash money PHP 13.00 (thirteen pesos only) and notebook with a written note which later was found out a suicide note, police said. (PNA/Ben Serrano)
