Starex Van of Surigao del Norte Board Member met freak road mishaps in Agusan; 2 dead

            BUTUAN CITY (PNA) - A Starex Van registered in the name of Surigao del Norte Provincial Board Member Leonilo Aldonza who first accidentally bumped two persons killing one on the spot again bumped another single motorcycle on the same day Saturday morning while on their way to a hospital to rescue an earlier road mishap victim, police said. 


            In a official report by Caraga Police Regional Information office sent to this writer, police identified the driver of the Starex van as Mariano Toribio Capa Jr., 40, and resident of Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.


            Prosperidad town is more or less 74 kilometers away from Butuan city, the region's capital. 


            The report claimed Capa was driving the starex van bearing plate number KEH 873 registered with LTO under the name of Leonilo Aldonza incumbent Surigao del Norte Provincial Board Member heading towards Davao City when it accidentally bumped two persons Saturday morning along national highway upon reaching Barangay Sta. Maria in Prosperidad town. 


Police identified the victims as widower Teodora Cepeda Pacatnag, 55, and Elvira Cepeda Dorico, 45, married and both residents of Purok 4, Barangay Sta Maria, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.


          Pacatnag died on the spot while Dorico was brought to D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital aboard same vehicle that bumped her trying to save her life.


            While on their way to said hospital, Capa’s driven starex van again bumped a single TMX Honda  motorcycle owned and driven by certain by Zaldy Encarces Villanueva, 38, married upon reaching Purok 2, Barangay San Salvador in same town, Prosperidad. 


            It was at this juncture that the mishap victim Elvira Dorico already on board the Starex Van was transferred to another vehicle hopefully to reach D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital which is still few kilometers away. 


            But upon reaching D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, hospital authorities there pronounced Dorico dead on arrival

            It was not reported what happened to the driver of the single motorcycle and his passenger back ride. 


            Capa immediately surrendered to Prosperidad Municipal Police Office and his driven Starex Van owned by Board Member Aldonza temporarily impounded for further investigation, police said. (PNA/Ben Serrano)
