Gruesome murders on Christmas Day in Caraga Region

            BUTUAN CITY (PNA) - A lady teacher in Nasipt, Agusan del Norte was stabbed several times by her live in partner inside their rented room evening of December 24 while a security guard of RDL Pharmaceuticals Compound in Bislig, Surigao del Sur was also stabbed to death pass midnight December 25, Christmas Day, Caraga police report here said. 

            Police said Jocelyn Villacastin Caburan, 32, single, teacher of Northwestern Colleges (NAC), Nasipit, Agusan del Norte was stabbed to death by her live-in partner Rey Napole Gavero, 48, married and resident of said place. 

            The victim was renting room at a boarding house located at Purok Gumamela, Barangay Nasipit, Agusan del Norte Nasipit is about 22 kilometers away from Butuan City the region’s capital.

            The victim’s landlady identified as Pacita Lagunay Abe-Abe told police probers that around 6 pm. evening of December 24 she heard someone was screaming asking for help inside rented room of the victim. 

            Abe-Abe told police probers when she went to the room to the check what was happening she saw the suspect live-in partner coming out the room and hurriedly left.

            When she reached the room of her boarder, Abe-Abe saw the victim lying dead on the floor already bathed in her own pool of blood. She then immediately shouted for help prompting neighbors to call for police. 

            Nasipit Police operatives headed by Police Senior Inspector PSINSP SANDRO B SANTILLAN immediately conducted investigation and follow-up operation for the possible arrest of the suspect.

            As of press time, the suspect is still at large, police said. 

            Meanwhile, Security Guard  Crispin Maceda, 43, married, security personnel of RDL Pharmaceutical Compound was stabbed to death by his drinking buddy Fernando Alkuino Daroy alias Nanding, legal age, married and resident of said place.

            Police said the two were having drinking spree on December 25, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. inside said compound and while the victim urinated few meters away suspect followed him and stabbed him with the use of knife known as Sundangay. 

Victim sustained a stab wound on his abdomen and was immediately brought to Andres Soriano Memorial Hospital in Bislig City but declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. 

Suspect was apprehended by the responding elements of Bislig City Police Station and now detained at Bislig City Police Station. (PNA/Ben Serrano)
