Two Surigao minors injured, loss fingers due firecracker picolo on Christmas Day

            BUTUAN CITY (PNA)  Two minors who lit firecrackers locally known as PICOLO were injured and loss fingers while playing in their homes celebrating Christmas in separate incidents In Tandag, Surigao del Sur on Christmas Day, Caraga police here said. 


            Around 5:25 a.m. December 25 Christmas Day, John Albert Labesores Tadios, 9, Grade II pupil of San Antonio Elementary School in Tandag, Surigao del Sur and resident of Purok Mangga, Barangay San Antonio, Tandag, Surigao del Sur accidentally injured his right hand after lighting firecrackers locally known as Picolo.


 Before the minor victim threw the Picolo he was holding in his right hand away it blew in his fingers, report from Caraga Police said.


 Immediately the minor victim was brought by his parents and close relatives to Adela Serra Ty Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, the Caraga Police regional information office here said.


            As a result, Tadlos injured his right thumb, middle and ring fingers and might be losing it medical authorities of said hospital told police. 


            At about 8:30 a.m. of the same date in another town but same province, Edelmar Manal Esuida, 10, resident of Barangay Mararag, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur injured his thumb, index and middle finger and doctors afraid the minor victim might loss it after firecracker Picolo again he lit exploded in his right hand. 


            Esuida was also immediately brought to Adela Serra Ty Memorial Hospital in Tandag, Surigao del Sur for medical treatment.


            The two minor victims are now recuperating in said hospital, the Caraga police said.

          

            So far only the province of Surigao del Sur despite being too far from Butuan City, the region's capital submitted report on Christmas Day merry making incident involving firecrackers. (PNA/Ben Serrano)
