All is set for 14th Caraga Regional Athletic Meet in Surigao City

                  BUTUAN CITY (PNA) - All is now set for the 14th Caraga Palarong Pampook 2011 also known as Regional Sports Competition among private and public high schools all over Caraga region slated March 13-17,2011 with Province of Surigao del Norte as this years host for the annual sporting event.


                  Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Folcadilla Matugas said Department of Budget and Management (DBM)Secretary Florencio Abad is Keynote Speaker in the opening program to be held as the spacious, newly refurbishedSurigao del Norte Sports Complex


                  Abad will be introduced by First District Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Matugas at the opening ceremonies.


                  On the other hand, Agusan del Sur Governor Adolph Edward Plaza assisted by Dr. Crucita Z. Montejo – Taala, Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Agusan del Sur will turn over the Regional Athletic Meet Banner to Governor Matugas to be assisted by Dr. Fidela M. Rosas, the Surigao del Norte Schools Division Superintendent.


                  Hoisting of the 2011 Caraga Regional Athletic Meet Banner will be headed by Surigao City MayorErnesto T. Matugas, this years athletic meet host, Rep. Francisco T. Matugas, 1st District, Surigao del Norte, andRep. Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr., 2nd District-Surigao del Norte


                  Simultaneous Hoisting of Delegation Banners will also be spearheaded byDelegation Heads and Officials and Entrance of Friendship Torch and Lighting of the Urn Dan Joseph Navarro, 2010 Palarong Pambansa Player.


                  At the opening ceremonies activities like Release of Balloons for Peace and Unity will also be conducted with the participation of the Sports and Local Government Officials with Delegation and Department ofEducation officials spearheading.


                  The programs opening will be a grand parade to be participated by Athletes, Coaches, Officials, Technical Officials, LGUs and NGOs from five provinces of Caraga region namely the two Agusan and two Surigao provinces.


                  Firework display will also be held at the later part of the Grand Opening program                                                                                                                      .

                  This years 14th Caraga Palarong Pampook 2011 is Surigao Now and Beyond.


                  Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Folcadilla Matugas in a press statement furnished to this writer claimed more than 5,000 athletes, delegates, school, NGO and LGU officials are expected to attend this years athletic event.


                  The conduct of this yearly athletic competition will provide exposure of our talented school athletes that will served as pool of our future athletes of this country as we continue our aspirations to produce World classathletes in this country, Matugas said.(PNA/Ben Serrano)
