Church leaders urged Butuan youths to attend conference on sexual abstinence, purity of love

BUTUAN CITY   - The Roman Catholic Bishop of Butuan and officials of the Butuan Evangelical Ministers Association (BEMA) urged Butuan youths to attend conference about sexual abstinence and purity of love scheduled November 13, 2010 to be held at Fr. Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) Gym this city.

 

The Youth Conference titled ‘Unashamed: Equipping Leaders Celebrating Purity”. is sponsored and under auspices of True Love Waits Philippines.

 

  Local organizers here however claimed a P100.00 registration fee are to be collected each from youth participants.

 

 Odette Andaya, Butuan Coordinator of True Love Waits (TLW) told local newsmen during press conference that the P100.00 registration fee will help cover expenses of the particularly travel expenses and lodging of guest speakers from Manila who will grace the youth confab.

  

In his letter, Diocese of Butuan Bishop, His Eminence Juan De Dios Pueblos, D.D. has invited and urged all youths in the city to participate in the conference believing in the goal of the conference in connecting Filipino youths with God and his ultimate plan for purity.

 

Rev. Rey Sanico, President of Butuan Evangelical Ministers Association (BEMA) for his part also invited all members of the Butuan Evangelical Ministers Association affiliated churches especially young people to attend the November 13 conference.

 

The conference secretariat headed by Odette Andaya and Leah Medado told newsmen during press conference held at FSUU Audio Visual Room 2 that the goal of conference is to challenge Butuanon youth to be unashamed in making radical choices that will lead to personal change leading to social transformation of the city.

 

True Love Waits Philippines Butuan chapter headed by Andaya, Pastor Charlie Prior, and Medado said they are committed in sending relevant messages to the youth to be pure by heart which lead them to make right choices especially in the issue of sexual abstinence after marriage.

 

“Already some 1,000 or more youth leaders expressed their desire to participate in the conference scheduled on November 13”, the TLW officials of Butuan told local newsmen. (-30-)
