LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…maintain justice in the courts…” (Amos 5:15, the Holy Bible).

FIGHT FOR TRUTH AND JUSTICE VERY LONELY: I fully understand what former Commission on Audit executive Heidi Mendoza is saying.

 It is indeed a very lonely fight for anyone wanting to uphold the truth and justice, for anyone wanting to uphold the rights of others against the rich, the mighty and the powerful, in this country.

For like Mendoza, who dared to fight against a powerful general from the Armed Forces who was obviously supported by equally powerful generals out to prevent any disclosure about wrongdoings in the military establishment, I myself have fought and  crossed swords with the rich and the mighty in my crusade to provide free legal assistance to the poor all through the years.

GOD WILL BE ULTIMATE JUDGE: And like Mendoza, who suffered misfortune one after another for choosing to fight for what is right, I myself have been made to suffer gravely, made to look like a villain out to extort money by those who, in the first place, have no qualms oppressing people who have no means to fight back.

In all these, what Mendoza did to stick to her guns I am also trying to do, confident and convinced that God will be my ultimate judge and vindicator, that He will, one day real soon, bring those who have twisted the truth and justice against me and those whom I have assisted to their appropriate come-uppance. 

After all, I only tried to help the least of Jesus’ brethren, and that whatever my detractors are doing against me now because I tried to help the poor and the marginalized, those detractors are doing it against Jesus, too. My prayer is that Jesus, my God and Savior, will show these detractors what real justice is all about.

HELPING THE POOR INCURS THE IRE OF THE RICH: In my most recent entanglements for instance, the truth is that I only came to the rescue, as it were, of families and individuals who have complained of damage to themselves and of the difficulty of fighting for their rights because their opponent was rich, moneyed, and therefore, powerful and influential.

These people failed to fight for their rights as their opponent took advantage of their lack of lawyer, delaying the cases filed against it and using all possible technicalities to frustrate the claims of the complainants.

When I decided to give free legal assistance to the complainants, their opponent was greatly shocked and angered, making it vow to get back at me, to destroy me, because I dared to fight it in the name of the poor and the defenseless. That is the misfortune of fighting for the poor, but, unfortunately for the opponent, I dedicated the fight to God.

Dusa sa paglaban para sa katotohanan

INSPIRASYON SA BUHAY: “…panatiliin ninyo ang katarungan sa mga hukuman…” (Amos 5:15, Bibliya).

LABAN PARA SA KATOTOHANAN AT KATARUNGAN, MALUNGKOT: Tunay na naiintindihan ko kung ano ang sinasabi ni dating Commission on Audit executive Heidi Mendoza.

Talagang napakalungkot ang laban ng sinumang nagnanais maitampok ang katotohanan at katarungan, at ng mga nagnanais maitampok ang karapatan ng tao laban sa mayayaman, malalakas at makapangyarihan sa bansang ito.

Sapagkat katulad ni Mendoza na lumaban sa isang heneral mula sa Armed Forces na suportado ng kanyang mga kapwa heneral na ayaw malantad ang kabulukan sa militar, nasubukan ko na ding lumaban at makipag-pingkian ng tabak sa mga mayayaman at makapangyarihan sa aking pagbibigay ng libreng tulong legal sa mga mahihirap.

ANG DIYOS ANG HUHUSGA: At gaya ni Mendoza na nagdanas ng mga dusa at pighati sapagkat pinili niyang lumaban para sa totoo, ako man ay nagdurusa din, at isinasalarawan pang nangingikil laban sa mga personalidad na nauna namang nagpahirap sa mga taong maliliit at walang kakayahang lumaban.

Sa lahat ng ito, ang pagpapakatatag ni Mendoza sa laban ay ginagawa ko din, dahil ako ay nagtitiwalang ang Diyos ang siyang aking Hukom at Tagapagtaguyod, at siyang magbibigay ng karampatang parusa sa mga taong bumalintuna sa katotohanan at katarungan laban sa akin at sa mga mahihirap na aking tinutulungan.

Sa totoo lang naman, tumulong lang naman ako sa mga maliliit na kapatid ng Panginoong Jesus, at anuman ang ginagawa ng mga tumutuligsa laban sa akin sa ngayon dahil sa pagtulong kong ito sa mga maliliit, ito ay ginagawa nila laban kay Jesus. Ang panalangin ko, ipakikita sa kanila ni Jesus, ang aking Diyos at Tagapagligtas, kung ano ang tunay na katarungan.

PAGTULONG SA MAHIHIRAP, IKINAGALIT NG MAYAYAMAN: Sa mga pinakahuling sigalot na kinasasangkutan ko, halimbawa, tumulong lang naman ako sa mga indibiduwal na nagsasabing napinsala sila, at nagsasabing nahihirapan silang ipaglaban ang kanilang karapatan dahil mayaman at makapangyarihan ang kanilang kalaban.

Hindi naipaglaban ng mga taong ito ang kanilang mga karapatan sapagkat sinamantala ng kanilang kalaban ang kawalan nila ng abogado, sa pamamagitan mga delaying tactics at mga teknikalidad sa batas upang mabali ang kanilang paghahabol.

Noong tinulungan ko ang mga nabiktimang ito, sobrang nagulat at nagalit ang kanilang kalaban, daan upang ito ay sumumpang gagantihan ako, sisirain ako, dahil lamang sa pagtulong na ginawa ko. Ito ang problema sa pagtulong sa mga mahihirap, pero may problema ang mayamang kalaban, sapagkat itinaas ko sa Diyos ang labang ito.
