BEST WISHES FOR KOKO PIMENTEL: Just exactly what can a senator do to concretely promote justice, freedom and peace, if he has barely two years to serve? I really don’t know, considering that many other senators have been unable to do anything with six or more years, but let us wish the best for Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, and hope and pray he can really do something.

I am sure Koko is a man of God, and is well-grounded in his faith, but I find it disturbing that in the media reports of his first-ever privilege speech last Monday, August 15, 2011, there was no public mention of what role God and spirituality will have in his senatorship.

What this country needs now, at this point in its history and in the history of the whole world, are men and women who are “capable… men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain…” (see Exodus 18:21 of the Bible) and those who, because they are not ashamed to acknowledge God in all their ways, are led by Him in straight paths (see Proverbs 3:6 of the Bible).

THE REAL STORY IN THE ARROYO-HELICOPTER ISSUE? Now, now, now. The document that Negros Occ. Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo brought out to explain that the Arroyo company, LTA Inc., merely leased and not bought five helicopters from Archibald Po’s Lionair, Inc. could be a hard evidence that could prove Po really lied in his claims against former First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo.

For if there is documentary evidence that Po’s company only leased, and did not really sell, the helicopters to LTA Inc., this would mean it is not true that Mike or the Arroyo family owned those helicopters. That being the case, how could have Mike or the Arroyo family sold the choppers to the Philippine National Police (PNP)?

Unless, of course, if the real story was this: Po continued to own the helicopters, and then Mike Arroyo, for one reason or another, was enticed to compel the PNP to buy them as brand new, even if they were already second hand. This kind of a story could explain and synthesize many of the claims being made by Po, Arroyo and the PNP on the issue.

TAKING UP THE CROSS OF JESUS: Here is a series of advices from the Lord Jesus, written in Matthew 16: 24-27 of the Bible, which indicate what we should do if we wish to have an eternal life in His presence: “…Then Jesus said to his disciples, `Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

“ `For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

“ `For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done’…”

Katotohanan sa Arroyo-chopper case?

INSPIRASYON SA BUHAY: “… Kung tayo ay nabubuhay, nabubuhay tayo para sa Panginoon; at kung tayo ay mamamatay, mamamatay tayo para sa Panginoon. Kaya nga, ke tayo ay nabubuhay o namamatay, pag-aari tayo ng Diyos…” (Roma 14:8, Bibliya).

PANALANGIN PARA KAY KOKO PIMENTEL: Ano nga kaya ang magagawa ng isang senador upang isulong ang katarungan, kalayaan at kapayapaan kung halos dalawang taon na lamang ang kanyang ipaglilingkod? Hindi ko alam, lalo na at maraming mga senador ang wala namang nagawa kahit nagsilbi sila ng anim na taon, pero ipanalangin natin si Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III na may magagawa nga sana siya.

Sigurado akong maka-Diyos si Koko, at matatag ang kanyang pananampalataya, pero nabagabag ako sa mga ulat sa media sa kanyang unang privilege speech noong Lunes, Agosto 15, 2011, kung saan wala man lamang binanggit ukol sa magiging papel ng Diyos at ng kabanalan sa kanyang pagiging senador.

Ang kailangan ng bansa sa puntong ito ng kanyang kasaysayan at sa kasaysayan ng buong daigdig ay mga lalaki at babaeng “may kakayahan… may takot sa Diyos, at galit sa masamang ganansiya…” (basahin po sa Exodus 18:21 ng Bibliya) at mga taong pinangungunahan ng Diyos dahil hindi sila nahihiyang kilalanin ang Diyos sa lahat ng kanilang mga gawa (Kawikaan 3:6 ng Bibliya).

TUNAY NA KUWENTO SA ARROYO-HELICOPTER ISSUE? Wow. Ang dokumentong inilabas ni Negros Occ. Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo upang ipaliwanag na inupahan lamang at hindi binili ng LTA Inc., ang kompanyang pag-aari ng Arroyo family, ang limang helicopter mula sa Lionair Inc. ni Archibald Po, ay maituturing na malakas na pruweba na nagsinungaling si Po sa kanyang mga akusasyon laban kay First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo.

Kasi, kung may dokumento na pinaupahan nga lamang ng kompanya ni Po, at di ipinagbili, ang mga helicopters sa LTA Inc., mangangahulugan ito na hindi totoo na pag-aari ni Mike o ng Arroyo family ang mga nasabing sasakyang panghimpapawid. Kung ganun, papaano namang ipagbibili ni Mike o ng Arroyo family ang mga choppers na ito sa Philippine National Police (PNP)?

Puwera na lamang kung ang tunay na kuwento ay ganito: nagpatuloy si Po bilang may-ari ng mga helicopters, pero nabighani, sa anupamang kadahilanan, si Mike Arroyo na kumilos upang pilitin ang PNP na bilhin ang mga ito bilang brand new kahit na ang mga ito ay segunda mano na. Ang ganitong kuwento ay magbibigay liwanag sa maraming mga sinabi nina Po, Arroyo at ng PNP sa isyu.

PAGPASAN SA KRUS NI JESUS: Naririto po ang ilang serye ng mga payo mula sa Panginoong Jesus na nakasulat sa Mateo 16:24-27 ng Bibliya, na nagbabadya ng kung ano ang dapat nating gawin kung nais natin ng buhay na walang-hanggang  kasama Siya: “…Sinabi ni Jesus sa kanyang mga alagad,` sino man ang nagnanais maging alagad ko ay dapat lumimot sa kanyang sarili, pasanin niya ang kanyang krus, at sumunod sa Akin.

“ `Sapagkat sinuman ang  nagnanais iligtas ang kanyang buhay ay mawawalan nito, ngunit sinuman ang mawawalan ng buhay dahil sa akin ay magkakaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan. Ano ang mapapala ng sinuman kung makamtan man niya ang buong mundo subalit mapapariwara naman ang kanyang kaluluwa? Ano ang maipagpapalit natin sa ating mga kaluluwa?

“ `Sapagkat ang Anak ng Tao ay darating dala ang luwalhati ng Kanyang Ama, kasama ang mga anghel, at pagkatapos ay bibigyang-gantimpla niya ang bawat tao batay sa kanyang ginawa’…”
