BIBLE TRIVIA, PART I: CREATION OF MAN: When did God really create man---on the

sixth day of creation, or earlier? If you read the Holy Bible good enough, I

believe that, like me, you will come to the conclusion that God created man on

the second day of creation.

Here is why I believe this way: In Genesis 1:26 and 31, the Bible tells us that

"God said, `Let us make man in our image, in our likeness..." and "God saw all

that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was

morning---the sixth day."

The impression one gets from this is that God created man on the sixth day.

However, in Genesis 2:4-7, it is there clarified that "When the Lord God made

the earth and the heavens, and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the

earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up...God formed the man from the

dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils..."

Now, when we read this carefully and then go back to the days when God created

everything, we will see that when God formed man from the dust, there were no

shrub of the field yet and no plant had sprung up yet---which is actually the

situation on the second day of creation, so that there could be no doubt

therefore that man was created on the second day.

BIBLE TRIVIA, PART II: WATER ABOVE THE SKY? If you are a Bible reader, you will

not fail to notice that under its Genesis 1:6-8, there is a part of creation

which indicates that there is a place higher than the sky, which is actually

water.

Here is what that part of the Bible says: "And God said, `Let there be an

expanse between the waters to separate water from water.' So God made the

expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And

it was so. God called the expanse `sky'. And there was evening, and there was

morning---the second day."

Clearly, there is water below (evidently the water here on earth), and there is

water beyond the sky. We must note that the sky seems to be a "middle section"

separating the water below and the water above. Given this information from the

Bible, is it right to say that God's dwelling place up there beyond the sky is

water?

BIBLE TRIVIA, PART III: GOD DID NOT ENVISION FAMILY PLANNING OR POPULATION

CONTROL: Here is one trivia from the Bible that Filipino lawmakers who are

intent on passing the abortion-laced Reproductive Health Bill should always

remember: God did not envision man to be undertaking family planning or

population control.

Genesis 1:28 says, after man was created: "God blessed them and said to them,

`Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the

fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that

moves on the ground..."

We should note that there is no doubt at all that God wanted man to propagate

himself in all of the earth. He used four phrases to underscore this point: "be

fruitful", "increase in number", "fill the earth" and "subdue it".

If God intended to say that man should increase in number only to a certain

point or up to a certain limit only, He should have said so in the same clear

manner. Therefore, anyone saying that man should limit his number by family

planning or population control is going against God's laws.

Bible trivia: pagpapalago ng kaalamang maka-Diyos

BIBLIYA-KAALAMAN, UNANG BAHAGI: PAGLIKHA SA TAO: Kelan ba talaga nilalang ng Diyos ang tao---sa ika-anim na araw ng paglalalang, o higit na mas maaga pa? 

Kung babasahin natin ng masusi ang Bibliya, naniniwala akong, gaya ko, makikita ninyo na nilikha ng Diyos ang tao sa ikalawang araw pa lamang.

Naririto kung bakit ganito ang aking paniniwala: Sa Genesis 1:26 at 31, sinasabi ng Bibliya na "Sinabi ng Diyos, `Likhain natin ang tao na ating kawangis..." at "Nakita ng Diyos na ang lahat ng kanyang ginawa ay mabuti. Dumating ang gabi, kasunod ng umaga---ito ang ika-anim na araw."

Ang impresyong ibinibigay nito sa marami ay ito: nilikha ng Diyos ang tao sa ika-anim na araw. Pero, sa Genesis 2:4-7 naman, nililiwanag doon na "Noong ginawa ng Diyos ang langit at ang lupa, wala pang mga halaman na lumilitaw sa daigdig, at wala pang tanim ang umuusbong...Ginawa ng Diyos ang tao mula sa

alikabok sa lupa, at binigyan Niya ito ng hininga..."

Ngayon, kung maingat nating uunawain ito, at pagkatapos ay babalikan natin ang mga araw kung saan nilikha ng Diyos ang lahat, makikita nating ginawa ng Diyos ang tao mula sa alikabok noong wala pang mga halaman at tanim---na siyang sitwasyong naganap sa ikalawang araw ng paglalalang, kaya naman sinasabi kong, walang duda, ang tao ay nilikha nga sa ikalawang araw.

BIBLIYA-KAALAMAN, IKALAWANG BAHAGI: TUBIG SA TAAS NG LANGIT? Kung kayo ay palabasa ng Bibliya, hindi makakaiwas sa inyong pansin na sa ilalim ng kanyang Genesis 1:6-8, mayroong bahagi doon ukol sa paglalalang na nagpapakitang may lugar na mas mataas pa sa langit pero ang kabuuan nito ay tubig.

Naririto ang bahaging ito ng Bibliya: "At sinabi ng Diyos, `Magkaroon ng gitnang maghihiwalay ng tubig, upang ihiwalay ang tubig sa tubig'. Kaya naglagay ang Diyos ng gitna sa pagitan ng tubig sa ilalim nito at tubig sa taas nito. At ganun na nga ang naganap. Tinawag ng Diyos ang pagitan na `langit'. At nagkaroon

ng gabi, at sumunod ang umaga---ang ikalawang araw."

Maliwanag na may tubig sa ibaba (na siyang mga tubig sa daigdig), pero mayroon ding tubig sa lagpas pa ng langit. Dapat nating tingnan na ang langit ay "gitna" lamang na naghihiwalay sa tubig sa ibaba at ng tubig sa itaas. Sa impormasyong ito mula sa Bibliya, tama bang sabihin na ang tirahan ng Diyos na mas mataas pa sa langit ay tubig?

BIBLIYA-KAALAMAN, IKATLONG BAHAGI: DI PINLANO NG DIYOS ANG FAMILY PLANNING O

POPULATION CONTROL: Naririto ang isang kaalaman mula sa Bibliya na dapat laging

tatandaan ng ating mga mambabatas na sumusuporta o nagsusulong ng Reproductive

Health Bill: hindi niloob ng Diyos na mag-family planning o mag-population

control ang tao.

Ganito ang sinasabi ng Genesis 1:28 matapos lalangin ang tao: "Pinagpala sila

ng Diyos at sinabihan, `Maging mabunga kayo at magpakarami; punuin ninyo ang

daigdig at isailalim ito sa inyo. Pangasiwaan ninyo ang mga isda sa dagat, ang

mga ibon sa langit, at ang lahat ng nilalang na may buhay na kumikilos sa

lupa..."

Dapat natin pansinin na walang dudang ninais ng Diyos na maparami ang tao sa

buong mundo. Ginamit Niya ang apat na salita upang itampok ito: "maging mabunga

kayo", "magpakarami kayo", "punuin ninyo ang mundo", at "isailalim ninyo ito sa

inyo".

Kung ninais ng Diyos na magparami ang tao hanggang sa eksaktong bilang lamang,

o ninais ng Diyos na limitahan ang dami ng tao, sinabi na Niya dapat ito ng

diretso. Kaya naman, sinuman ang nagsasabi na kailangang limitahan ng tao ang

kanyang bilang sa pamamagitan ng family planning o population control ay
