EXECUTIONS IN CHINA, GOD’S CURSE: The execution of three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in China on Wednesday, 30 March 2011, should remind all of us once again of the Biblical admonition: if we do not listen to the Word of God and do not obey His commands, our children will be given to other nations and we will be powerless to help them.

This is what Deuteronomy 28:32 of the Bible says: “…Your sons and daughters will be given to another nation, and you will wear out your eyes watching for them day after day, powerless to lift a hand…”

This situation is a curse from God, for our refusal to read the Bible and obey Him in our daily lives. As much as we should grieve for the executed OFWs, we must endeavor to learn the lesson and profit from it: read the Bible and obey God once again. This is of national urgency, lest the same curse strikes again and again!

BISHOP’S CALL FOR SEX EDUCATION, HORRIFIC: I am horrified to be reading the news that Catholic bishops may soon favor sex education for the Filipino youth. This inclination is misguided, with due respect, and is totally unBiblical.

If the bishops will read the Bible once again, they will see that what God requires is for our children to be taught in the way that they should live so that when they grow old, they will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6). And what is the “way” that children should be taught?

The way of God, of course: which is listening to His Word and obeying His commands. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 of the Bible says this, and Matthew 7:24-25 says this, too. Many other parts of the Bible repeat the same thing, so this is what the bishops should aspire for, not sex education.

FILIPINO MILITARY ASSAULT ON MEDIAMEN: QUESTION OF TIP? Question: If US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas agreed to be interviewed at the AFP Medical Center, how come Filipino military men tried all their best to prevent mediamen from conducting the interview, to the extent of making passes at the breast of a lady TV reporter?

Possible answers: The Filipino soldiers thought the reporters were not fit to do the interview, or the reporters will kill or harm the US ambassador, or, the soldiers were afraid the tip that Thomas will give for the security men will be taken by the mediamen instead. Choose which suits your imagination.

INCREASE LEGAL DEFENSE FUND OF OFWS NOW: Better late than never. The proposed bill that seeks to increase, from P30 million to P500 million, the legal fund that will be used by the government to assist OFWs who are encountering legal problems in other countries, that is. It is time really to strengthen the defense of OFWs facing court battles abroad and more money is really needed for it.

Bitay sa China: sumpa ng Diyos

INSPIRASYON SA BUHAY: “…Gayon na lamang ang pag-ibig ng Diyos sa sanlibutan kaya ibinigay Niya ang Kanyang bugtong na Anak, upang sinuman ang sumampalataya sa Kanya ay di mapapahamak kundi magkakaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan…” (Juan 3:16, Bibliya).

MGA PAGBITAY SA CHINA, SUMPA NG DIYOS: Dapat ipaalala minsan pa ng naganap na pagbitay sa tatlong overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa China noong Miyerkules, Marso 30, 2011, ang babala ng Bibliya: kung hindi tayo makikinig at hindi susunod sa Salita ng Diyos, ang ating mga anak ay ibibigay sa ibang bansa at wala tayong magagawa upang tulungan sila.

Ito ang sinasabi ng Deuteronomio 28:32 ng Bibliya: “…Ang inyong mga anak, lalaki at babae, ay ibibigay sa ibang bansa, at mamumuti ang inyong mga mata sa pag-aalala sa kanila araw-araw, subalit wala kayong kapangyarihang tulungan sila…”

Ito ay sumpa ng Diyos, dahil sa ating pagtutol na basahin ang Bibliya at sumunod sa mga utos doon araw-araw. Bagamat kailangan nating magdalamhati sa mga binitay na OFWs, dapat magsumikap din tayong makuha ang aral ng mga pangyayari: magbasa ng Bibliya, at sumunod sa Diyos minsan pa. Ito ay pambansang pangangailangan upang di na maulit pa ang mga bitay.

PANAWAGAN NG MGA OBISPO SA SEX EDUCATION, NAKAKAGIMBAL: Naeskandalo naman ako sa balitang ang mga obispong Katoliko ay kikiling na sa sex education para sa kabataang Pilipino. Itong pagkiling na ito ay mali, mawalang-galang na nga po, at kontra sa Bibliya.

Kung babasahin lamang ng mga obispo ang Bibliya minsan pa, makikita nilang ang nais ng Diyos ay maturuan ang mga bata sa tamang paraan ng pamumuhay, upang pagtanda nila, di na sila hihiwalay doon (Kawikaan 22:6). At ano ang “paraan” na dapat ituro sa mga bata?

Ang paraan ng Diyos siyempre: ang pakikinig sa Kanyang Salita at pagsunod sa Kanyang utos. Ito ang sinasabi ng Deuteronomio 28:1-2, at ng Mateo 7:24-25. Maraming iba pang bahagi ng Bibliya ang ganun din ang sinasabi, kaya ito ang dapat gawin ng mga obispo, hindi sex education.

KABASTUSAN NG MILITAR SA MGA REPORTERS DAHIL SA TIP? Tanong: Kung ayos naman kay US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas na makapanayam sa AFP Medical Center, bakit kumilos ang mga Pilipinong militar upang pigilan ang mga mamamahayag sa panayam, hanggang sa ma-tsansingan pa nila ang dibdib ng isang lady TV reporter?

Posibleng mga sagot: Maaaring inisip ng mga sundalong Pilipino na di kaya ng mga Pilipinong reporters ang mag-interview, o maaaring patayin o saktan nila ang US ambassador, o ang tip na ibibigay ni Thomas para sa mga security men ay agawin ng mga mediamen. Piliin na ninyo kung ano ang gusto ninyong sagot.

PAGTAAS NG LEGAL DEFENSE FUND NG OFWS, DAPAT LANG: Huli man pero magaling, ok na rin. Ang tinutukoy ko dito ay ang panukalang-batas na itataas mula P30 milyon at gagawing P500 milyon ang pondo para magamit ng mga OFWs sa kanilang mga problemang legal sa ibang bansa. Dapat namang taasan na talaga ang halaga nito noon pa.
