Businessmen losing confidence on PNoy?

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus…” (Galatians 3:26-28, the Holy Bible).

BUSINESSMEN LOSING CONFIDENCE ON PNOY? Indeed, it will not be correct to say that businessmen in the Philippines are becoming impatient with President Aquino after a survey of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) showed that the country’s “business confidence index” declined to 31.8 percent in the second quarter from 47.5 in the first quarter.

Impatience with the President would not be the proper term here, and I agree with BSP Deputy Gov. Diwa Guinigundo’s public assertion on the matter, as reported by the Philippine Star.

Rather, the more apt phrase should be, businessmen are “losing confidence” on the President---simply because the BSP survey deals with “business confidence index” and, by BSP’s own account, businessmen are now less and less confident on doing business in the country, especially under the last two quarters of the second Aquino presidency.

But then, which is better, or perhaps, worse---businessmen becoming impatient with the President, or businessmen losing confidence in the Chief Executive? What do you think, Mr. Guinigundo?

OWWA FUND TRANSFER HURT OFWs: The arguments of former Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales and lawyer Raul Lambino, spokesman of the Lakas-Kampi party, on the diversion of funds from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to Philippine Health Corporation or Philhealth under the presidency of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Arroyo, actually constitute a grave insult against overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Yes, it maybe conceded that a law was passed to transfer the billions in OWWA funds, generated from the contribution of millions of OFWs overseas, to Philhealth, but this skirts the reality that  these funds belonged to OFWs, and should have been used only and solely for their benefit, like defending them from suits while they are abroad or repatriating them in times of trouble.

I am sure that because Arroyo later authorized the transfer of the OWWA funds to Philhealth, the needs of OFWs, like the three who were executed in China, were not properly addressed and their interests not properly defended, resulting in their execution. This alone makes the transfer highly anomalous and dubious, and grossly illegal.

ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO GOD: How many of us thank God as soon as we wake up in the morning, for another day of life and blessings coming from His Fatherly love for all of us? Many do so, and yet there are more who do not even remember to attribute to God the gift of a new day.

“ Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” the Bible, in its Ephesians 5:20, tells us. The previous verses here say: “… be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord…”
