TODAY’S HEADLINES FULFILL BIBLICAL PROPHECIES: Many will call it pure coincidence, but it appears eerie to me that many of the headlines in our newspapers today, here and abroad, seem to be a fulfillment of many chapters and verses of the Bible. Let us devote this column then today to these headlines and the Biblical verses they fulfill.

CORRUPTION AND THE BIBLE: Deuteronomy 28:29 of the Bible says, about corruption: “…day after day you will be oppressed and robbed (plundered), with no one to rescue you…”

Headline from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, 19 September 2011 issue: “A Senate oversight committee has unearthed records showing that P7.5 billion from the Department of Agriculture was released from January to June 2010, an election period, Senate finance committee chairman Franklin Drilon said Sunday.”

EARTHQUAKES AND THE END OF TIMES: Matthew 24:7-8 of the Bible quotes Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, as saying: “…There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains…”

INSPIRASYON SA BUHAY: “… Huwag kayong kikilos dahil lamang sa pansariling hangarin o paniniwala sa sarili. Sa halip, pahalagahan ninyo ang inyong kapwa ng may pagpapakumbaba, ng hindi ang inyong sariling kapakanan ang inuuna, kundi ang kapakanan ng iba…” (Filipos 2:3-4, Bibliya).

OFWs AT MGA KASO SA HUKUMAN SA IBANG BANSA: Ukol naman sa mga overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), ito ang sinasabi ng Deuteronomio 28:32 ng Bibliya: “… Ang inyong mga anak na lalaki at babae ay ibibigay sa ibang bansa, at mamumuti ang inyong mga mata sa paghihintay sa kanila subalit wala kayong magagawang tulong sa kanilang kapighatian.”
