LRT, MRT SUBSIDIES NEEDED: The reason being advanced by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to justify the collection of higher fares for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) systems---that is, taxpayers from outside Metro Manila should no longer subsidize the LRT and MRT fares for Metro Manilans---is convoluted and deceptive.

The fact is that, many Metro Manila residents who are riding the LRT and the MRT on a daily basis  in reality work in government and private offices which make this country and the entire Filipino nation move forward, and therefore needed to be helped so they could individually do their jobs that contribute to the over-all economic, political and other activities which we all benefit from.

METRO MANILANS WORK FOR THE GOOD OF WHOLE RP: To say that it is not fair that taxpayers from the provinces should be subsidizing the fares for Metro Manilans because these provincial taxpayers do not benefit from the work Metro Manilans do, is therefore misleading.

To paraphrase what the Holy Bible said in Ephesians 2:19-22 and 4:15-16, every Filipino from every part of the Philippines is part of one body and all are mandated to work together, help one another, and pursue the development of the country and the people together, even if sacrifices have to be made by each of them along the way.

UNSOLICITED ADVICE RE: FIGHT VS. GRAFT: The efforts of the Ombudsman to streamline its operations and fast-track the resolution of graft cases is greatly laudable. It is therefore an Act of God that a new Ombudsman has been put in place, evidently to put a check on the Ombudsman’s previous system which saw the ballooning to unimaginable proportions of cases which remained unresolved through time.

I wish to offer an unsolicited advice though: the fight against corruption takes many forms, but it would do well for the concerned authorities to remember that corruption is a matter of the heart, mind and spirit of a public official. An official whose heart, mind and spirit are godless is an official prone to graft.

INSTILLING GODLINESS AMONG GOV’T MEN: It would therefore be an important element, in the campaign against graft and corruption, to make an effort to put godliness and righteousness among employees and officials of government, through activities like regular Bible studies (or Koran studies for Muslims) and prayer meetings right inside the Office of the Ombudsman and in all other government offices.

As the Bible said in its Proverbs 14:34, “(R)ighteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”  In Ephesians 4:28, it is there also stated: “The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need…”

“MAINTAIN JUSTICE IN THE COURTS”: And, finally, since two judges of the Regional Trial Courts in Metro Manila are in the news as a result of the administrative cases that have been filed against them by disgruntled litigants, I wish to remind our good magistrates across the country of what the prophet Amos, speaking for God, said in Amos 5:15: “… maintain justice in the courts…”

LRT, MRT subsidies, kailangan ng mga Pinoy

INSPIRASYON SA BUHAY: “… Siya ang ating ipinapahayag, at ang batayan ng ating pagbibigay-babala ng may katalinuhan sa lahat, upang mailapit natin ang bawat isa ng may kaganapan kay Kristo…” (Colosas 1:28, Bibliya).

LRT, MRT SUBSIDIES, KAILANGAN TALAGA: Ang ginagamit na dahilan ng Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) upang ituloy na nito ang pagtataas ng pamasahe sa Light Rail Transit (LRT) at Metro Rail Transit (MRT) systems---diumano, ang mga taxpayers sa labas ng Metro Manila ay di na dapat pang tumutulong upang gumaan ang pamasahe ng mga nasa Kalakhang Maynila---ay hindi tama at mapanlinlang.

Sa totoo lang, marami sa mga taga Metro Manila na sumasakay sa LRT at sa MRT araw-araw ay nagtatrabaho sa gobyerno at mga pribadong kompanya na siyang nagsusulong ng pag-unlad ng buong bansa, kaya naman dapat silang tulungan upang lalo pa nilang magampanan ang mga gawaing magbibigay-tagumpay sa mga pagkilos sa ekonomiya, politika at iba pang larangan ng lipunang Pilipino.

MGA METRO MANILANS, KUMIKILOS NAMAN PARA SA BUONG RP: Dahil diyan, hindi makatotohanan ang pagsasabing hindi makatwiran para sa mga nagbabayad ng buwis mula sa mga lalawigan na tumulong para sa mas mababang pamasahe para sa mga Metro Manilans dahil hindi diumano nakikinabang ang mga taga-probinsiya sa mga ginagawa ng mga nasa Kalakhang Maynila. 

Kung gagamitin natin ang sinasabi ng Bibliya sa Efeso 2:19-22 at 4:15-16, makikita natin na ang lahat ng mga Pilipino mula sa apat na sulok ng Pilipinas ay bahagi ng iisang katawan, na may obligasyong kumilos ng sama-sama, tumulong sa bawat isa, at magpursigi sa pagpapa-unlad ng bansa at ng mga mamamayan, kahit na may mga kailangang sakripisyo paminsan-minsan.

PAYO SA PAGLABAN SA KORAPSIYON: Ang pagkilos ngayon ng Ombudsman upang mapabilis ang desisyon nito sa mga kaso ng korapsiyon ay kahanga-hanga. Lumilitaw na gawa ng Diyos ang pagkakaroon ng bagong Ombudsman sa ngayon, marahil upang matigil na ang mahinang aksiyon nito sa lumulubong mga kaso ng katiwalian na hindi nalulutas sa mahabang panahon.

Nais ko lamang magbigay ng isang payo, bagamat hindi hinihingi: ang paglaban sa korapsiyon ay maraming anyo, pero makabubuting maalala ng mga autoridad na ang katiwalian ay isyu ng puso, isip at espiritu ng isang opisyal ng gobyerno. Ang isang opisyal na ang puso, isip at espirito ay walang Diyos ay madaling hatakin sa korapsiyon.

PAGTUTURO NG PAGIGING MAKA-DIYOS SA MGA NASA GOBYERNO: Dahil diyan, magiging mahalagang bahagi ng pagkontra sa katiwalian ang paglalagay ng espiritung maka-Diyos at pagiging matuwid sa mga kawani at opisyales ng gobyerno, sa pamamagitan ng mga Bible studies (o Koran studies para sa mga Muslim) at prayer meetings sa loob mismo ng Office of the Ombudsman at sa lahat ng mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan.

Gaya ng sinasabi ng Bibliya sa kanyang Kawikaan 14:34, “Ang pagka-matuwid ay nagtatampok sa isang bansa, subalit nagdadala ng kaparusahan sa sambayanan ang kasalanan.” Sa Efeso 4:28, nakalagay din doon: “Ang magnanakaw ay huwag ng magnanakaw, kundi magsumikap magtrabaho ng tapat gamit ang kanyang sariling mga kamay, upang may maibahagi siya sa mga nangangailangan…”

“PANATILIIN ANG KATARUNGAN SA MGA HUKUMAN”: At dahil may dalawang hukom ng Regional Trial Courts sa Metro Manila ang nasa balita ngayon dahil idinemanda sila ng mga taong may kaso sa kanilang mga hukuman, nais ko lamang paalalahanan ang lahat ng mga hukom sa buong bansa ng sinabi ng propetang Amos, batay sa sinabi ng Diyos, sa Amos 5:15: “…panatiliin ninyo ang katarungan sa mga hukuman…”
