LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders….” (Exodus 18:20-21, the Holy Bible, the New American Standard Version).

WHY IS WELFARE OFFICER DUERO BEING RECALLED? Will someone from the Aquino government please explain to us what is the real score about Welfare Officer Alberto Adonis Duero of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Los Angeles, California?

Is it true that because he has been sincerely trying to help overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were deployed to non-existing jobs in many parts of the United States by unscrupulous recruiters, he is now ordered to return to the Philippines even if his tour duty as OWWA official in California is yet to expire on April 27, 2011?

Who in the Aquino government did not want Duero, who is even now receiving death threats, to help the distressed OFWs in the US? Who in the Aquino government did not want the investigations being conducted by Duero to continue?

NO CAUSE FOR JOY FROM CANCUN MEET: Before environmental activists start jumping with glee over reports that the just-ended Cancun, Mexico climate change conference gave rise to a US $100 billion fund to fight climate change and global warming, we must remind ourselves that the money is yet to be raised, starting 2020 yet.

In the meantime, the world continues its slide towards environmental disasters and calamities, resulting in many being killed globally and billions of dollars in property and resources being damaged wantonly everywhere, with nothing but total destruction as the ultimate destiny for all of us.

The question is, is there something really effective that we can do now to fight climate change and global warming? Yes, and that is to immediately recognize these twin environmental evil as curses from God, arising from man’s continuing refusal to listen to God’s Word and to obey His decrees and commands (see Deuteronomy 28:15-68 and Matthew 7:24-27 of the Bible).

WILL SC REACT TO ACIDIC COMMENTS? I wonder how the Supreme Court will react to all the acidic comments many lawyers, especially from the government, are hurling against it after it ruled against President Aquino’s Truth Commission. Many of these comments are outright contemptuous, and are a direct affront to the integrity of the members of the tribunal and of the court itself. Let us wait and see.

ALEX CABANILLA, MMDA DEPUTY CHAIRMAN: I wish to congratulate a good friend and neighbor of mine, Alex Cabanilla, for his recent appointment as the deputy chairman (with the rank of a senior undersecretary) of the Metro Manila Development Authority.

He is one good addition to the rooster of officials serving the Aquino government, because he is a man who fears God and hates dishonest gain. Here’s a prayer for your success at the MMDA, Apo Alex.

OFW official pinauuwi; Cancun meet, palpak
