45 fully-armed NPA rebels burned logging truck in Butuan City

            Camp Rafael Rodriguez, BUTUAN CITY- An estimated 45 suspected New People’s Army rebels burned a ten wheeler logging truck in Purok 13-A, Barangay Bit-os, Butuan City Thursday, belated report reaching Caraga regional information office here said.

 

            The report claimed the ten wheeler logging truck owned by Butuan Businessman Tata Tiu was loading logs at the vicinity of Raval Farm in Barangay Bit-os when more or less 45 armed men suspected to be NPA rebels ordered the driver to proceed to nearby to Purok 13A, Casisiman of same barangay

 

            Upon reaching the area, said armed suspects poured gasoline into the logging truck and burned it. 


            The area of incident is very near populated areas and commercial center of Butuan City, Caraga region's capital. 

 

            The huge Raval Farm is owned by retired former Caraga Police Regional Director Angelito Raval. Other retired former regional police directors also now owned several businesses in the region like a huge security agency operating in the entire Mindanao owned by retired former Caraga PNP Regional Director Chief Supt. Rene Elumbaring.

 

            Police report said they are still investigating the incident. (-30-)

Giant Christmas tree construction underway

ROXAS City — An about 30-foot Christmas tree is currently being put up at the site of the Roxas City fountain for the upcoming Sinadya sa Halaran (SSH) and Christmas celebrations.

The giant Christmas tree "is a symbol of hope and unity among us," said Mayor Angel Alan Celino during a press conference dubbed "Kapihan ni Alan" at the Roxas City Hall.
