Lawlessness ripping PNoy’s credibility

November 18, 2010
BY ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO

STREET LAWLESSNESS RIPPING PNOY’S CREDIBILITY: One other reason why President Aquino’s popularity rating is suffering a big drop even if he is our top government official for only about 150 days, is the increasing lawlessness in the many streets of the country, particularly in the Metro Manila area.

It would seem all kinds of petty crimes in particular are experiencing a re-surge! It is as if petty criminals suddenly got released from their handcuffs, from the ropes that bound them and which kept them from prowling and committing crimes before President Aquino became chief executive, and are now free to be criminals once again (read our crime stories everyday at www.batasmedia.com).

                    -ooo-

QC NEIGHBORHOOD TERRORIZED BY THIEVES ONCE AGAIN: In our street (Mahiyain corner Mapagkawanggawa) in Teachers’ Village, Diliman, Quezon City, for example, our neighborhood is once again victimized regularly by motorcycle riding hoods who snatch bags and other valuable belongings of hapless residents and visitors, and yet the authorities appear not only totally helpless, but are even scandalously prone to doing nothing.

Perhaps, Malacanang is thinking that petty crimes are petty issues that do not deserve presidential attention, but it is precisely the lack of concern about these kinds of petty things that eat away at the President’s credibility, compelling people to believe that they were wrong to trust that President Aquino can really do something to help the people, after all.

                    -ooo-

LIGHWEIGHTS IN CABINET SHAMING PNOY: The picture gets uglier if we take into consideration statements from Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago that the Cabinet of the President are filled with “lightweights who are liable to float on their delusions of grandeur”, and who cannot therefore perform creditably to serve the country and our people.

Which, unfortunately, got confirmed resoundingly by the decision of the House of Representatives to return President Aquino’s Proclamation No. 50 for amendment, so that the amnesty being offered to military men who participated in several uprisings against the Arroyo administration can be corrected so it will not suffer from basic Constitutional infirmities.

With all of these simultaneously happening, are we even wondering why Aquino’s popularity is continuing to fade away? Again, I will repeat this: if this does not change, Aquino will suffer the fate that befell US President Obama during the US midterm elections this November.

                    -ooo-

REBELLING VS. GOV’T IS PUNISHED BY GOD: I, too, am greatly worried about the oft-repeated declaration of Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim and Col. Ariel Querubin that they have no regrets in their having rebelled against the Arroyo government, saying it was their duty under the Constitution, as protector of the Filipino people, to fight abusive government officials.

The truth is that, what is Constitutionally-permissible may not necessarily be right and allowed by God, who, through Romans 13:1-2 of the Holy Bible, promises judgment and punishment to those who fight governmental authorities existing on earth. The reason why we as a people continue to suffer is that, our very Constitution encourages violations of God’s laws and decrees, the very recipe for God’s curses.

                    -ooo-

PAGLABAN SA GOBYERNO AY PINARURUSAHAN NG DIYOS: Ako man ay lubhang nababahala sa madalas banggitin nina Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim at Col.
