Diokno should resign now

REMINDER OF THE END FROM AN AMERICAN EVANGELIST: It is not so much the accuracy, or the lack of it, of predictions about the world ending by May 21, 2011, made by American Harold Camping, an 89 year old radio evangelist, that really matters.
What matters in Camping’s insistence that the world will end by May 21, 2011---whether it happened or not---is the fact that it should be a reminder for all of us that the end of the planet will really come, sooner or later, even if there is really no one who knows exactly when.
Jesus Christ talked about this end of the world in Matthew 24 of the Holy Bible, as well as in the other Gospels, and it should be a cause for concern that the signs He pointed to as heralding the end---earthquakes, famines, wars---are occurring more or less in a more frequent fashion now (please read Matthew 24:3-24 in particular).

RAPTURE WITH JESUS---WHAT IT IS: There is therefore no doubt that the end of the world will come, and there is also no doubt that Camping’s predictions about “rapture”---or the taking up to the clouds of believers who managed to obey the commands of God, and the destruction of non-believers during a period called “tribulation”---will come.
This is so because “rapture” is talked about, and vividly described, in the Bible, particularly in its 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18. Let us read these passages: “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words…”

DIOKNO SHOULD RESIGN? Would it not be better if Prisons Director Ernesto Diokno, a former police general and chief of the Manila Police Department, resign his post now instead of insisting he did not know that some prominent prisoners under his watch have been going out of the prison compound?
Resignation will be bitter, and would not remove any criminal or administrative liability on his part, but it is one way of sparing Diokno’s long-time friend, President Aquino, of further embarrassment at this period that the Chief Executive is confronted with problems about his running of the government.

PAALALA SA WAKAS NG MUNDO MULA SA AMERICAN EVANGELIST: Ang mahalaga sa taya o hulang matatapos na ang mundo sa Mayo 21, 2011 na ginawa ni Harold Camping, isang 89 anyos na Amerikanong radio evangelist, ay hindi ang katotohanan o kasinungalingan ng kanyang mga sinabi.
Ang mahalaga sa pagpupumilit ni Camping na matatapos na ang mundo sa Mayo 21, 2011, ke natuloy man o hindi, ay ang katotohanang dapat magsilbi itong paalaala sa ating lahat na darating talaga ang wakas ng planetang ito, ke sa malayo o malapit na hinaharap, bagamat wala talagang nakakaalam kung kelan nga ito magaganap.
Si Kristo Jesus mismo ay nagsalita ukol sa pagtatapos ng mundo sa Mateo 24 sa Bibliya, at maging sa iba pang bahagi ng Mabuting Balita, at ito ay dapat magbigay ng paghahanda sa atin, lalo na at ang mga senyales na Kanyang binanggit---lindol, taggutom at mga giyera---ay nagaganap na sa ngayon (basahin po ang Mateo 24:3-24).

“RAPTURE WITH JESUS”---ANO BA ITO? Walang duda kung ganon na darating ang wakas ng mundo, at wala ding duda na ang taya o hula ni Camping ukol sa tinatawag na “rapture” o “pag-akyat sa ulap” ay magaganap para sa mga nakasunod sa mga utos ng Diyos, at ganundin ang pagkalipol ng mga walang pananampalataya sa panahon ng “kapighatian”.
Sa totoo lang, ang “rapture” o pag-akyat sa ulap ay isang pangyayaring pinag-usapan at isinalarawan sa Bibliya, lao na sa kanyang 1 Tesalonica 4:15-18. Basahin po natin ang bahaging ito: “Ayon sa Salita ng Panginoon, sinasabi namin sa inyo na tayong mga nabubuhay pa at naiwan hanggang sa pagdating ng Panginoon, ay di mauuna sa mga nauna ng nakatulog.
“Ang Panginoon ay babalik mula sa langit, kasama ng isang malakas na utos galing sa arkanghel at trumpeta ng Diyos, at ang mga namatay na kay Kristo ay mauunang babangon.
“Pagkatapos noon, tayong mga buhay pa at naiwan ay kukunin at ililipad at i-aakyat sa mga ulap upang salubungin ang Panginoon. Pagkatapos noon, makakasama natin ang Panginoon ng walang wakas. Dahil diyan, hikayatin natin ang bawat isa sa mga salitang ito…”

DIOKNO DAPAT MAG-RESIGN? Hindi kaya mas maganda kung magbitiw na lamang sa puwesto si Prisons Director Ernesto Diokno, isang dating heneral ng pulisya at hepe ng Manila Police, kaysa sa ipagpilitan niyang wala siyang nalalaman sa paglalabas-masok ng prominenteng mga bilanggo sa Bilibid?
Mapait ang pagbibitiw, at hindi nito aalisin ang kanyang anumang pananagutang administratibo at kriminal, pero isang mabisang paraan ito upang mailayo ang matalik na kaibigan ni Diokno, si Pangulong Aquino, sa mas malalang kahihiyan, lalo na sa ngayong may problema sa pamamahala ng gobyerno ang punong ehekutibo.
