Binay’s ratings; Belmonte off the mark

BY ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God…” (Luke 12:8, the Holy Bible).

                    -ooo-

BINAY’S HIGH RATINGS COME FROM HIS PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF GOD: The very high trust and appreciation ratings of  Vice President Jejomar Binay, higher even than the ratings for President Aquino nowadays, should confirm the truth that leaders who publicly acknowledge God in their daily lives get to be perceived in a better light than those who do not.

I mean, I do not wish to compare, but then there is actually more media space for the work being done by President Aquino as the chief executive of the government, compared to the publicity being given to Vice President Binay.

Yet, Binay is now even more trusted and appreciated than President Aquino himself, and I attribute this his never-ending calls for Filipinos to pray to solve our problems, more particularly the problem with the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who will be executed on March 30 in China.

Regardless of what his detractors may say about him, Binay’s boldness in asking for prayers shows his acknowledgment of God in his life and in the life of the nation and its people, and God can only reciprocate, as shown by the Biblical quotation here.

                    -ooo-

CHALLENGING JUDGE TO A DUEL ANTI-BIBLICAL: The challenge to a fist-fight hurled by Marlyn Aguilar, mother of murder suspect Jason Ivler, against Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Bayani Vargas, confirms the “straying away” of many Filipinos from God and from His Word.

This confrontational attitude against a judicial authority by a citizen is actually prohibited by the Bible, in its Romans 13:1-2, which says that everyone should submit themselves to the authorities, because these authorities were established by God Himself, and that whoever is fighting the authorities is fighting God.

Aguilar should be told that curses leading to destruction follow this disobedience of what the Bible says, as enunciated under Deuteronomy 28:15, which says that if we no longer listen to God and no longer obey His commands, God’s curses will come upon us and destroy us.

                    -ooo-

HOUSE SPEAKER OFF THE MARK ON CORRUPTION: House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. is wrong and totally off the mark when he said that accountability and transparency are the keys to good governance, because the real key is godly upbringing leading to righteousness, for an official who is godly and righteous has fear and love of God.

Those who do not have the fear and love of God among the bureaucracy, whether in high positions or in low positions, can easily be corrupted and be prone to graft, so the solution against corruption is teaching our people God’s ways through the Bible, or for those of other faith, the Koran.

Binay ratings; Belmonte, mali

Marcos burial: matter of terminology

BY ATTY. BATAS MAURICIO

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…What would profit a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul?” (Matthew 16:26, the Holy Bible).

MARCOS BURIAL A MATTER OF TERMINOLOGY: I believe that the issue of burying former President Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani is just a problem of terminology. If we only use the proper term, then all objections maybe set aside to permit something that the law and tradition both allow t...

By: Bobot Apit
Mar 21, 2011 - Monday Meditation (God's Love Conquers All)
How can we possibly love those who cause us harm, ill-will, and grief? With God all things are possible. He gives power and grace to those who know his love and who ask for the gift and help of the Holy Spirit. Paul the Apostle reminds us that "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us" (Romans 5:5) God's love conquers all, even our hurts, fears, prejudices and griefs. ...
