by Jason de Asis on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 12:01pm

SCIENCE CITY OF MUNOZ, Nueva Ecija January 18, 2011 – Three suspected hold-uppers were killed while another of their cohort was wounded in a shoot-out with policemen who foiled an attempt to hold-up a businesswoman here Monday night.

Police Supt. Jonathan Cabal, police station commander, identified the slain hold-up men as Rolando Rotol, Ricardo Cutang and  Alberto Quintog, all of the Amihan Group based inCabanatuan City. They all died on-the-spot from gunshot wounds.

Cabal said a fourth unidentified suspect was wounded.

Cabal said the shoot-out erupted at around 7 pm Monday when elements of the Munoz police encountered the armed suspects who were boarded on a tricycle and on their way to Barangay Bical. Their presence was tipped off by a civilian informant.

“Based on our intelligence information, the group was set to rob a wealthy businesswoman in Bical so we conducted patrol operations to pre-empt their plan,”

Cabal said the group was involved in several incidents of robbery-holdup and akyat-bahay heists in San Miguel, Bulacan; Gapan City, Cabanatuan City and other major urban centers.he said.

Police recovered from the encounter scene two caliber 38 revolvers, one caliber 22 pistol, one caliber 45 revolver and a grenade. (Jason de Asis)

Jesus reminds the Pharisees that the Sabbath was given for our benefit, to refresh and renew us in living for God. It was intended for good and not for evil. Withholding mercy and kindness in response to human need was not part of God’s intention that we rest from unnecessary labor. Do you honor the Lord in the way you treat your neighbor and celebrate the Lord’s Day?
