LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves…” (Romans 13:1-2, the Holy Bible).

PHL MUST CONTINUE OPERATING NAIA 3: I agree with the position of President Aquino’s lawyers that the government can continue operating the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, because the most recent decision on the issue by the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) did not divest the Philippines of its ownership of the terminal. As owner, the Philippines has the right---and the duty---to operate it.

RAINS, FLOODS, STRONG WINDS NOW NORMAL OCCURENCES: Tales of death and destruction continue to come from the Philippines’ eastern and central regions which even now are still being battered by heavy rains, floods and strong winds. While the weather bureau says this is abnormal, the Bible says they are normal, happening to people who no longer read the Bible and obey God’s commands. Read Matthew 7:24-27 and you will see what I mean.

NEW CONDITION FOR AMNESTY SEEKERS EYED: What assurance does the Aquino government have that the military officials and soldiers who will be given amnesty and thereby relieved of any criminal liability for rebelling against the Arroyo government will not also rebel against President Aquino in the future?

There is none, especially because these military adventurists continue to insist that it is their right to fight a government perceived by them as corrupt and abusive. I suggest that the grant of amnesty to them will be coupled with a condition that if those seeking amnesty will rise up in arms against the government again, they will be automatically jailed for life, without any right to any other amnesty or pardon.

ES OCHOA WILL DO HIS JOB WELL: Should Filipinos be alarmed that under the 2011 national budget, even Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. can disburse some P400 million in intelligence funds allocated to the Office of the President?

My answer is no. The presumption is still regularity in the performance of official functions---and Ochoa I believe will discharge his duties in disbursing that amount regularly, for the interest of the government, country and people. There is no reason to doubt he will not do that, at this point.

REP. SINGSON RISKS FULL PENALTY FOR TRAFFICKING: I still think that Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson should not plead guilty to charges he imported illegal drugs into Hong Kong, even if his plea of guilt will try to show that the drugs he brought with him was for personal use only.

I strongly believe that, in view of recent developments involving the Philippines and Hong Kong, any plea of guilt would be seized upon by Hong Kong authorities to retaliate, as it were, and shame and humiliate the Philippines.  If Singson admits his guilt, I am almost sure he will be meted the full penalty for drug traffickers in Hong Kong, not the penalty he is hoping for.
