Mayor Strike Revilla, Maynilad team up to help Bacoor fisherfolk

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) and Mayor Strike Revilla will be working together to develop a livelihood program for 4,000 impoverished fisherfolk of Bacoor City.

Aside from encouraging the beneficiaries to form a cooperative, Maynilad will also provide the Bacoor City fisherfolk with equipment to help them start and sustain a livelihood program that will revitalize the city’s famed mussel industry. 

A microfinancing program and values formation module will also become part of the project.

Maynilad President and CEO Ricky Vargas explains the water company’s latest initiative – “Poverty alleviation is a key component of our Corporate Social Responsibility framework. We want to improve the lives of the marginalized people in our concession area in any way we can.  Dapat tulungan ang nagtatrabaho ng marangal.”

Maynilad is owned and managed by DMCI-MPIC Water Company, Inc., a joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and DMCI Holdings, Inc.  It serves the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres & Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of the Holy Spirit & Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Hi-way), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City, and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
