GERONA, Tarlac, December 6, 2010- President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III ensures the steady supply of electricity in the country wherein he is allocating P1.4 billion pesos for the Department of energy next year.

“Additional funds are necessary in the Philippines economic development,” he said, adding that Aquino lauded the Tasked Force Kapatid (TFK) members for the urgent and successful turning back of electric supply in the most affected areas for seven days.

He said that this is faster as compared to the slow restorations that were done in the aftermath of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng that took months to be completed.

The President made the statement last Friday after he awarded plaques of recognition to the 13 electric cooperatives that were part of the TFK which had helped restore power in areas that were severely battered by Typhoon Juan last October. The 13 cooperatives shouldered the salaries of the volunteers to include their sustenance during the said deployment.

The recognition was dubbed as “Ilaw-Bayanihan: Taos-Pusong Pagtutulungan Alay sa Bayan,” which was highlighted thru an audio-visual presentation efforts made by the linemen and foremen of First Laguna Electric Coop. (FLECO), Pampanga I Electric Coop. (PELCO I), Pampanga II Electric Coop. (PELCO II), Peninsula Electric Coop. (PENELCO), Nueva Ecija I Electric Coop.(NEECO I), Nueva Ecija II Electric Coop.-Area 1(NEECO II-Area 1), Nueva Ecija II Electric Coop.-Area 2(NEECO II-Area 2), Tarlac I Electric Coop.(TARELCO I), Tarlac II Electric Coop. (NUVELCO) in rehabilitating the damaged distribution lines in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga and Apayao.
