Ex-army found dead under mysterious circumstances

BALER, Aurora, January 17, 2011-A former member of the Philippine Army was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a drainage canal in Burgos extension, Palispis Street, brgy. 5, Baler, Aurora yesterday, who was already in the stage of decomposition when found by Elmer V. Espina, councilor of the said barangay and other villagers due to the foul odor they smelled which led to the discovery of the body.

 

Police Chief Inspector Dennis C. Wenceslao, Chief of Police of Baler PNP station here identified the victim as Demetrio Nasol Y’ Astrera, alias Ka Dim, 47 years old, separated, was reportedly missing since he left his home last January 5, 2011 after engaging in a drinking bout, adding that the said victim was long time suffering from mental disturbances and has become habitually drunk after leaving the military service.

 

The cadaver lied at Sindac Memorial Funeral Homes, Cabituculan, Brgy. Reserva for autopsy examination if there was foul play.

 

As of this writing, the case was still going on under PO3 Huvert A. Abordo.

 

Prior to this, a farmer’s cadaver was also found at Sitio Kalipatan, Brgy. Reserva, last January 14, 2011. The victim was under the state of decomposition identified by the authorities as Romeo Guttierez Y’ Rutaquio, 38, single and a resident of Brgy. Obligacion, and reportedly missing since January 9, 2011 which was believed to be drowned. (Jason de Asis)
