MARIA AURORA, AURORA, January 20, 2011-Senator Edgardo J. Angara and the leaders of Aurora lauded the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Php317 million funded project Bazal Bridge inauguration ceremonies in Maria Aurora town today.

He said that the 110 meter Bazal bridge will serve as the road access of the villagers in Brgy. Bazal and to the rest of the town to include market, educational, recreation and medical facilities, adding that it is now advantageous during the rainy season when the rivers flood the streets and make them now passable.

It connects 2 large barangays in Ma. Aurora the Bazal in the hinterland and Malasin, which are nearest to the town proper.

In November 2009, the project construction started led by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and was completed within the year in cooperation with Governor Bellaflor Angara Castillo, Mayor Ariel Bitong and the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH).

He thanked Ambassador Makoto Katsura of Japan and JICA Chief Representative Mr. Norio Matsuda for their unequaled generosity to the entire province of Aurora, the Cabinet members who played important roles in the implementation of the project particularly DAR Secretary Virgilio Delos Reyes, DOH Secretary Enrique Ona and DOTC Secretary Jose de Jesus.

The senator said that he is hoping for the usual continued assistance of Japan where he cannot express his deepest appreciation on behalf of the villagers of Aurora who benefited from the project. (Jason de Asis)
